During this 90 minute online workshop we explore our emotional relationship with objects, as well as the tangible and relaxing creative writing method known as ‘Cut-up’.

Creative writing is one way we can carve time for ourselves out of our busy and often stressful lives.

Whether you want to try something new, step out of your everyday world for an hour or so, or reflect on your own life and experiences, this workshop is designed to offer breathing space.

Research has shown that writing can help increase feelings of happiness and wellbeing. Expressing ourselves in writing is both a creative and restorative act. In a supportive and friendly environment you will work alongside the Manchester-based writer, Rebecca Hurst, to reconnect with yourself on the page. No previous writing experience is necessary.

About the artist: Rebecca Hurst is a writer, opera-maker and illustrator. She was born in East Sussex and now lives in Greater Manchester. Her poetry has appeared in various magazines and anthologies. Rebecca has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester, an MA in Creative Writing for Personal Development, and was artist in residence at the John Rylands Library and the Manchester Museum. She is co-founder of the Voicings Collective, an ensemble that devises new music theatre, and teaches creative writing workshops in schools, museums, and the community. Her pamphlet, The Fox’s Wedding, is forthcoming with The Emma Press in February 2022. http://rebeccahurst.eu/
