Colette Whittington

Colette Whittington is a visual artist working at the intersection of printmaking, illustration, installation and animation. She regularly works with museums, galleries and art organisations on socially engaged or participatory projects, championing art access for all and using printmaking as a democratic medium to connect with all abilities and age groups.

Colette joined Lime as an Artist in Residence in September 2017. On this project she worked with young people on Galaxy Ward at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital as an artist ‘embedded’ in the ward and the project culminated in an elaborate costume parade within the atrium of St Mary’s Eye Hospital.

As a lead artist for Lime, Colette has worked with patients and staff in both face to face and online workshops delivering practical art sessions. More recently she is delivering workshops for Lime’s pioneering Create+, a referral programme for staff on long term sickness who are returning to work, or those who are at risk of going off sick. Colette is running a six-week art/ printmaking programme in Lime’s art studio designed to help staff regain balance and confidence through creative intervention.

The sessions Colette delivers at Lime are practical skill-based workshops, often using printmaking techniques such as screen, block printing or etching. They are designed to be inclusive for all abilities – from the complete beginner to those with more experience.
